March 27 My New Watchband
Not long ago, my husband bought me this fun watch. The band was a utilitarian black leather band, stiff, uncomfortable and ugly.
I loved the watch but never wore it...yesterday I did this and now love it!
I admit: There's no polymer clay or paint in this band, but it's pretty and makes me happy.....

March 26 Poppy Pendants in Progress
Every year around this time, in addition to painting crocuses and tulips, I begin to paint poppies. This year I had intended to see what I could do with clay. I carved a poppy design plate the other day and will try that next....but at the end of the day I may also have to get out the canvas and tubes.
I have lots of poppy cane so don't know what else I might do once these pieces are polished etc.

March 23 2010 new patterns
Positives and; negatives: Except for poppies, which were lightly incised before clay was cured, then carved after curing, the positives were made using extruded strands. (I made a couple of more negative impressions of poppies which were in oven when I took this photo..they are much crisper.)

March 21 Black River Raven
Made from a piece of scrap I couldn't resist ... the raven was carved after curing and then filled with liquid clay and oil paint. The piece was sanded and buffed, the raven finished with several coats of high gloss for contrast.
The beads are glass except for ivory stone which was recycled from a necklace I purchased at Thieves Market in Bangkok in the 80's.
Pendant measures 1 1/4 at narrowest point up to 1 3/4 at widest, and is 2 1/2 inches long.
The overall length is 21-22 inches.
The clasp is a silver-plated toggle. Each side is double-crimped and finished with a silver crimp bead

I love the things she does! They are so rich and full of interest and nearly always have the look of the ages about them.

March 11 Works in Various Stages
Much to my embarrassment, I had all but forgotten half of these pieces awaiting completion...carving, drilling, bezels and/or sanding, etc.
This is why I found acrylics more compatible than oils....I could work A to Z.
Resolution: MUST BECOME MORE DISCIPLINED!

2010-0309-Four Petroglyph pendants
Didn't have as much time as I had hoped/planned last week, but I was able to complete these. The fifth, a raven, is giving me some techical problems. Hopefully, the pendant will come together.
I'm planning to work this week (my workweeks start on Thursday) on some raku-inspired pieces/techniques.
Being new to clay, I never know quite what will come of my efforts. It's half the fun.
